About Us

The Lions Club of Stouffville has been serving the Community of Stouffville and beyond since 1937.

In 2014 the Club was recognized as "Citizens of the Year for valued contributions to the community. Our Club is a member of Lions Clubs International (www.lionsclubs.org) that has a world wide focus of improving communities around the world.

Lions, men & women, are social people. We like to be part of groups. We become Lions to do service in fellowship with others. It's just more satisfying to do good deeds with others. We also soon realize that we can get a lot more accomplished by being a part of an established group such as the Lions than trying to go off on our own to serve others.

The Lions Club programs, projects and activities are continually changing to keep pace with the rapid changes in the community.

Some early Lion Projects involved:

  • A snack booth

  • An out-door swimming pool and fencing around the park

  • Children's play grounds

  • The old arena on Park Street

  • Sponsorship of baseball and hockey teams

  • School achievement awards

  • Financing and building the Gazebo on Main Street,

  • Financing and building the new pavilion in memorial park

Financial support is provided through several annual fundraising raisers. The oldest is our annual B.B.Q. in the park and food booth at Markham Fair. They both date back to the 40's. The most recent includes the: Christmas Tree Sales Project, Christmas Cakes & Cookies Sales, & Rubber Ducky Races held in conjunction with the Strawberry Festival. Most of our other fund raisers are food related and often involve the use of our trailer.
